Currently the pay gap between enlisted service members and officers is extreme. Example: an enlisted member that has served their country for 30 years and attained the rank of E-9 is limited to $6,743.34 per month while a Flag Officer that holds the rank of O-10 receives $14,975.10. To make a better comparison the enlisted member that has attained the rank of E-9 and has served for 30 or more years is entitled to the same pay as an O-4 that has served for just 12. In today's military, new requirements for promotion require that enlisted members obtain college degrees to advance into the Senior NCO grades (E-7 through E-9). Many enlisted members hold Master's degrees that this point in their career. Re-evaluate military pay to catch up with current enlisted member demands and requirements.
