Equate veiled State efforts to undermine federal elections a Voting Rights Act violation.

Created by D.C. on January 26, 2013

The veiled State efforts across the country to undermine federal elections are a Voting Rights Act violation. The sponsors of these bills should face immediate jail time and public scrutiny because, although states have their rights, if it hinders, in any way, access to the federal ballot (especially for poor, sick and/or working-class citizens) then the violations should stand judicial review and challenges.

Gerrymandering too, the way it has been carried out by Republicans, is, in effect, unconstitutional and should be considered a voting rights violation to be challenged. Ideally, stopping this with an executive action would force courts to consider the Voting Rights Act rather than avoiding it and how it affects citizen voting at the federal level.
