Establish an Affordable Price Limit for the Cheaply Made Life-Saving Drug Epinephrine (EpiPen)

Created by J.P. on August 24, 2016

Mylan Pharmaceuticals ("Mylan"), makers of the EpiPen, raised the wholesale price of the EpiPen from $56.64 in 2007 to $317.82 in 2016, a 461% increase over the last nine years. Over the same time period, Mylan CEO, Heather Bresch, saw a 674% increase in her salary (according to proxy filings). Epinephrine is used to control life-threatening anaphylaxis during an allergic reaction, allowing the patient a limited amount of time to seek emergency medical treatment at a facility. Because EpiPen is a delivery device, and not an actual drug, no generic alternative is available, and patients are forced to pay whatever price Mylan sets. Allowing companies to gouge patients with life-threatening allergies is discrimination under the ADA. Please set a price limit on this device.
