With TV being American's main source of news (Gallup), it is unfair and unsafe that the citizens of the United States are not allowed accurate information to base their opinions and decisions on.
Correct information to the masses is vital to a healthy-functioning democracy.
For example, America's most watched television news source was also the most cited for "distortions of truth" for each past year. In 2011, this news source received 54% of attention from one of the largest media watchdog groups in the world regarding inaccuracies relating to "lies, smears, and distortions." ("The Fox Effect").
