establish a computer database for all gun-ownership records nationwide under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms

Created by G.W. on December 26, 2012

The ATF needs to be adequately funded to do the job our government has mandated. Our government needs the ability to appoint a full time director for the ATF without the approval of Congress, who are influenced by the gun lobby. The parties who are regulated do not get to choose who regulates them. Gun ownership records should be computerized and in a national database for easy access of law enforcement agencies. Purchasers of firearms need to disclose at time of purchase if the gun will be a gift, as the recipient will need evidence of training and a background check as well, otherwise the purchaser will be responsible for misuse of the firearm. The ATF needs to be adequately staffed to do the job of administering the firearms regulations.
