Each military branch have deployment deferments set up for breastfeeding/new mothers after giving birth besides the Army. However, they are not all alike policies. The Air Force only defers mothers from deploying for 4.5 months after birth. The deferment can be extended to 12 months with a commanders approval. The Navy and Marine Corps defer mothers for 12 months. The military branches should adapt to the Navy/Marine standards! The first year of a child's life is crucial for bonding with their mother. Livelihood of mother and child should not be left up to a Commanding officer when studies show how crucial this time is. Please help establish a standard across the military!
