By establishing Election Day as a national holiday for all national elections at the federal level (i.e. for Congress, the Presidency), we can increase the amount of voter participation, circumvent the efforts of particular states from infringing upon voters First and Fourteenth Amendment rights, shorten long lines, reinstate the pride of tradition when it comes to voting as well as allow elections to be reflective of the true public sentiments in the country at the time.
President Barack Obama said, in his inaugural address, that making voting easier was a top priority of his second-term Administration. Make good on that promise so Americans don't need to wait hours to exercise their rights.
