Establish Enlightenment Day.

Created by H.A. on November 26, 2012

The significant contributions that science and reason have bestowed upon our world cannot be captured quantitatively, yet their bestowments have positively enhanced every facet of our lives beyond measure.

A Federal holiday to celebrate and recognize the achievements of scientists, rationalists, and their collective achievements is warranted to acknowledge the efforts by Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, Christopher Hitchens, Carl Sagan, Marie Curie, Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, and countless others who have enhanced our lives and advanced our way of thinking.

We propose the holiday fall on 23 March and that it be called Enlightenment Day. It should be given the same weight and privileges that any other Federal holiday receives such as Christmas or Independence Day. Thank you.
