In order to keep those who are mentally ill or taking medications that increase a person's risk of psychotic and violent behavior from having access to firearms, guns should be titled and registered in a manner similar to motor vehicles.
Licensing should be required for ownership, and clean bill of mental health should be proven before ownership. This would make it easier to keep track of the sale of firearms, thus preventing them from being channeled to illegal organizations, and would make it easier to prosecute criminals who procured their weaponry illegally and for nefarious purposes. It would not impact law-abiding gun owners, but would help law enforcement do its job properly and help reduce the mentally ill's access to weaponry.
