Malcolm X left an indelible mark on America that forever changed the course of this nation. Malcolm X lived a life that spoke to the challenges that many suffer as a result of discrimination and dedicated his life to securing liberty for those who suffered both domestically and internationally. To commemorate his life and dedication to freedom, we declare that May 19th be a holiday in his honor.
We, the undersigned, citizens, do hereby request a holiday honoring “Malcolm X.” With this petition you are embracing the importance of honoring an American hero. On Malcolm X Day we will promote literacy, unity and awareness of self-worth. Malcolm X displayed extreme compassion for the people, and his day will focus on love for the well-being or ourselves and others.
