Free community college for high school graduates with a 2.5 GPA will be a positive step to help address nationwide poverty. By universally raising taxes by a small percentage and lowering military spending by a small percentage, excess funds could be used to pay for community college for qualified high school graduates. More widespread access to higher education will help reduce the wage gap between the rich and the poor. Students who can take advantage of this free community college program and succeed will have a better chance at getting higher paying jobs than people with just a high school diploma. If more Americans are educated their higher earning potential will lead to less poverty, less government aid, and a stronger economy.
