Require the installation of vehicle charging stations at federal buildings and government-owned parking garages/lots. Also require operators of contract garages serving federal buildings to install charging stations. This would allow federal visitors and employees to charge their vehicle while they were conducting business in or working in federal buildings. This should include military facilities.
This would enable more federal employees to consider the purchase of all-electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles for commuting to work, and enable citizens to take advantage of this resource when interacting with government agencies. This policy would not require new legislation but would require a solid plan and dedicated funding.
