Establish limits on salaries and benefit packages of elected officials, namely those in the House and the Senate.

The compensation and benefit packages of elected officials, namely those in the House and the Senate, should be limited and should not exceed the median income and benefit packages being received by their constituents. This should include, but not be limited to: expense accounts, insurance packages, retirement packages, housing and vehicle allotments, annual salaries and severance packages. As an example: The median income in California (according to census.gov) was $29,634(2007-2011). Those officials elected by this populous should not be paid more than $29,634. This encourages the politicians to act on behalf of the common citizen of this nation. As a result of legislation that improves the economy and the income of the common citizen, the elected official would be paid more.
