Establish a Mandatory Paid Maternity Leave period for all American Women

This petition is set forth to request the Federal establishment of mandatory paid maternity leave for all female Americans who receive taxable income.
The U.S. grossly trails on a global level when it comes to the important subject of paid maternity leave; forcing women to utilize their personal leave for the purpose of giving birth to, and sustaining their new born children.
This is unacceptable and must be addressed with the highest level of urgency; protecting the millions of mothers across the United States from losing income due to this natural part of life.
A mandated period of at least 3 months is suggested as a minimum requirement for paid maternity leave, while not counting against personal leave days. This would mean that maternity leave is counted as "convalescent" in nature.
