Mars holds the answer to many questions essential to our understanding of the formation of our solar system, our planet, its echo system, and quite possibly the origin of life itself. While robotic missions have unearthed evidence that has been extremely valuable to us in acquiring the knowledge we seek of our existence, a tipping point has been reached. Further exploration will need to be be fluid, changing with each discovery, requiring what no machine can provide, BOOTS ON THE GROUND. While such endeavors come with a considerable price tag, it should be looked at as a essential investment in the future of our economy.
