This country has no National Memorial to document and honor the victims of Slavery. Slavery is the National shame that is in the consciousness of every American. We owe it to the victims, and the descendants of those individuals, to establish a memorial so that all can further process and heal from the mistakes of our forefathers. It is the next step in healing the relations between races. It will also serve to allow children to better understand their heritage. It is an injustice that lawmakers allow politics to inhibit the establishment of potentially the most important symbol of Human Rights in the world.
