The NFL's Superbowl draws television viewers from all parts of the country generating substantial revenue for our economy. People gather to watch the two best teams vie to be called champions of one of America's most beloved sports. It unites people of all backgrounds, regular fans and non-fans of football alike.
As Superbowl Sunday traditions have grown, so too has the amount of time and energy invested by viewers. This has resulted, unintendedly and unfortunately, in increased workplace absenteeism the next day, which is a direct burden on our country's ability to be economically viable.
By establishing a federal holiday, it eliminates such potential unproductiveness. Superbowl Sunday will also continue to grow as both a national pastime and flow of revenue for our economy.
