Over the past 50 years there has been amazing progress in technology. It is maybe a million times more useful now than it was back then, resulting in a huge increase in productivity.
Sadly, the direction of the economy and society over this time has favored the investor and executive class at the expense of everyone else, and went largely unnoticed for years because the primary measures of economic and social progress are money profit accounting for business, stock and bond price growth for investors and GDP growth for economists and policy makers.
Bloomberg, CNBC and the others talk about these things all the time, but nobody does rigorous accounting and reporting on the valuadd and value destruction that changes quality of life in the community and society, This needs to change.
