A National Clean Energy Standard will allow for the US to become a leader in future energy markets as well as help integrate cleaner resources into our power grid. Currently, over half of US states have established clean energy goals and standards. However, states have shown a natural preference to develop their own internal resources and as a result many of the cheaper clean wind and solar resources are not getting developed and delivered to our population centers. It is scientifically recognized that depleting fossil fuels need to be replaced with more sustainable resources, which this country has an abundant supply of. The federal government can solve this collective action problem and create a wide array of jobs and prosperity around a cleaner power gird.
