I want to propose the idea of creating a nationally recognized Public Safety Day. As a nation we all saw what happened in Boston and the amazing response and efforts of all those first responders. Just think, when was the last time you saw a police patrol car driving down the street with people cheering as it drove by? I just want these everyday heroes to remember they are appreciated, and just how much we rely on them and need them.
Just as our veterans and military personnel are celebrated so should our police officers, firefighters, EMT's and medics. If you Google Public Safety Day you will find that it is already a celebration in some states; but let's go ahead and make it a national holiday! April 19th might not be the best date since it's followed by 420. So I leave that to the Gov.
