The current system in which each state sets its own rules has resulted in long voting lines, prevented legitimate voters from having their votes counted, and raises questions about the accuracy and integrity of the votes being counted.
For all elections involving a Federal position (President & Congress), the federal government should establish a common set of rules & policies to address these concerns - enable accurate tracking of votes, paper & electronic vote documentation, protect voting rights while minimizing the risk of fraud, and provide service members with a simplified means to vote (in place of the current 50 state mish-mash)
These rules should include policy on handling long lines of voters, especially when the poll closing time approaches.
