While the gun-control debate will probably last for a long time, lets at least do something that both gun owners and those against them should both agree on.
A federal funded voluntary gun-buy-back program should be established to start purchasing back and destroying guns. This may create an incentive for people to get rid of unused weapons. Emphasis with additional funds for high capacity weapons could also be made. It seems there is a lot of talk at local levels about doing some of this, but it should be done at a federal level. This could potential remove millions of guns throughout the nation from ending up in the wrong hands.
