Establish a No-Fly Zone over Syria and assist our regional allies in removing Bashar al-Assad from power.

Created by S.S. on May 19, 2013

While the West has dithered on intervention in Syria, tens of thousands of lives have been unnecessarily lost. If the moral imperative of humanitarian intervention is not enough, the recent revelations of chemical weapons use provide sufficient justification for intervention under existing international law.
To be sure, a post-Assad Syria will be ugly. It will be far messier than post-Gaddafi Libya.
Regardless, the intervention must take place and it must happen soon.
The U.S. should establish a No-Fly Zone and support Turkey, Jordan and other regional partners in removing Assad from power.
Only when Assad is gone can Syria begin the long and arduous journey towards viability and reconciliation.
