Star Trek has been a massive part of young dreaming minds for nearly 50 years. We have national kazoo day; national doughnut day; national hamburger day; yet, no Star Trek day.
Yes, we do have Sept 8th; Star Trek's anniversary; yet, this is not considered a holiday. I propose that every single Star Trek fan worth their salt take 30 seconds to sign this petition, and ask the white house to introduce a new bill which would dedicate April 5th of every single year as national Star Trek day.
Why April 5th you ask? This is the date within Star Trek's cannon that humanity established first contact with an alien species (the Vulcan's). So, why not 9/8? This date is already ST's anniversary and birthday. We feel that Star Trek deserves both; it's own birthday; it's own holiday.
