It gets tiresome when dealing with Government agencies that demand all documents be in a proprietary format. The Europeans have endorsed using the Open Document format, which Microsoft now can also use. This practice forces individuals to purchase software from one of the world's richest men, or you cannot present a case to the agency you are dealing with.
This is unfair to poor people who cannot afford it. We are a small non-profit and the thought of us handing over the "widow's mite" donations we receive to Microsoft, instead of aiding some poor people, just stirs my guts. Please sign this petition.
