Establish a permanent Lunar colony by 2030.

This petition asks for the establishment of a Lunar base by, or no later than, 2030. We believe that a base on the Moon is the next logical step for our space program, and that the data gathered from such a project would be an invaluable resource. Furthermore, the resources obtained from such a project have the possibility of negating its cost, resources being both physical and intellectual. This base could serve as a gateway to the stars, as a proving ground for rovers, or as a test-bed for the possibility of a manned mission to Mars. A time is approaching when no living human will have set foot on the moon. We seek to make it so this scenario will never be able to rear its head for a very long time.
