The popularity of gun buyback programs is obvious. I propose that, on a trial basis, some law enforcement funds be allocated to establish a permanent/semi-permanent drop-off gun buyback 'point' at or near a number of police departments/sites across America. I see this as not only potentially helping get guns off the streets/reducing gun violence, but also potentially helping empoverished families by providing another outlet for them to put food on the table (by exchanging firearms for cash/vouchers), at their convenience.
