Of the 23 petitions that had qualified for responses when this petition was activated, 15* were submitted over 6 months ago! (Go to www.backedup.info for details.)
This is far too long, and will inevitably discourage the submission of many petitions - especially those dealing with current events. At the very least, interim responses ought to be issued.
No other president has ever given his fellow citizens this much access and potential power. And the more improvements we can encourage his staff to make in this new petition site, the more likely it will become popular enough that future presidents will feel compelled to grant us the same privilege.
*Only 5,000 signatures were required prior to October 4, 2011, and so many qualified that it created a huge backlog of unanswered petitions.
