Of the 23 petitions that had qualified for responses when this petition was activated, 15* were submitted over 6 months ago! (Go to www.backedup.info for details.)
This is far too long, and will inevitably discourage the submission of many petitions - especially those dealing with current events. At the very least, interim responses ought to be issued.
This is the first time we the people have been granted so much access to an administration. And the more improvements we can encourage them to make in this new petition site, the more likely it will become popular enough that future administrations will feel compelled to grant us the same privilege.
*Only 5,000 signatures were required prior to October 4, 2011, and so many qualified that it created a huge backlog of unanswered petitions.
