Allow for a sealing of criminal convictions of non-violent and non-sexual offenders that have completed their sentences and have successfully re-entered society.
After a period of 7 years from conviction, or release if incarcerated, with no other charges being filed or convictions taking place, the offender should be allowed to apply for a sealing of public records; to include charges, arrest, guilty pleas or findings of guilt. The records can be made available to government officials in regards to positions of public trust and safety or security sensitive positions
Over 7 million convicted felons in America, many who are non-violent and have completed their sentences have difficulty finding work, exacerbating the unemployment and government assistance problems we are experiencing today.
