Establish public internet for all people in the United States

Access to the internet is an absolute necessity for effective education, job growth, and growth of small businesses.
The internet industry as it is now is grossly monopolized and ineffective. The federal government should invest taxpayer money to support the infrastructure for free public internet services.
Free public internet would not only provide access to the internet to people and businesses who could not otherwise afford it, but it would also force telecom companies to innovate.
The United States is behind the rest of the world in terms of technology. The Japanese government provides free internet, and Japan has the fastest internet in the world.
Free public internet would greatly help students, small businesses, and job seekers.
