We the people request President Obama and Congress enact legislation effective immediately to reinstate a preclearance formula to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Since the Supreme Court's decision, there has been unprecedented legislation passed to suppress voter registration and participation. The massive restrictions passed by states since the decision only exposes the need for a permanent and comprehensive formula.
Congress should also enact legislation effectively immediately to require voter registration to be initiated by the states automatically and enact legislation to allow ex-felons to vote.
