School massacres have been increasing in frequency and violence since the 1990's. We need increased security but nobody wants to see armed guards at our schools. The Federal Air Marshal service proved to be an effective deterrent in the sky, we should bring that system to the ground.
We should establish a School Marshal service modeled loosely after our Air Marshal service. Agents identities would be on a need to know basis.
School Marshals would work a common job at the school to help blend in and also help offset their cost. Every school may not have a marshal, just knowing that there may be a marshal onsite may be a significant deterrent.
Some unemployed veterans may be ideal candidates. Existing school employees could apply and if accepted would receive free training.
