In order to propose a Constitutional Amendment, Article 5 of the Constitution currently requires either two-thirds of both the Senate and the House or a national convention called for by the legislatures of at least two-thirds of states. Unfortunately, this Article of the Constitution has become oppressive; instead of being allowed to propose amendments to the Constitution of our own accord, we are forced to request that our legislatures or senators do so. This is a tricky proposition when the needs and desires of 314 million are in direct opposition to the preferences of legislatures -- instead, we are confronted with legal acts that curtail our civil liberties or allow corporations to receive the benefits of being a human being while not facing the penalties of the same.
