Alzheimer's Disease is not adequately addressed from a treatment, on-going care, and caregiver support perspective.
Alzheimer's Disease not only affects people over 65, but Alzheimer's is now being diagnosed in people in their 40s and 50s.
The disease is cruel. Alzheimer's robs a person of their most valuable asset, their memory. Alzheimer's steals a person's independence and basic freedom. Isolation, abandonement, and genuine fear are common feelings of someone in all stages of the Disease. Social interaction and physical therapy are key aspects of treatment to slow the Disease's progression. THIS IS WHERE OUR SOCIETY HAS A SEVERE GAP IN AFFORDABLE CARE.
Current services are scarce, inadequate, costly and not covered by traditional insurance. These costs can quickly bankrupt a family.
