Establish a trade embargo and sanctions against the corrupt government of Guatemala who oppress the indigenous Maya people. After 50+ years of civil war a peace document was signed.It is not being honored. In the Polochic Valley, the government is currently helping the Chabil Utzaj sugar company to forcibly take Mayan farmer’s land, burning their houses and destroying crops in violent and deadly skirmishes. Many are starving. Maya make up 75% of the population but remain uneducated and thus, do not vote. Please show our solidarity with the Maya people and clean up our own culpability for the deaths of the Maya during their civil war.
