America is a wealthy nation, yet poverty is an increasing problem, unemployment is too high, and it's becoming increasingly obvious that there simply will not be enough well paying jobs for everyone.
A good solution to this problem would be to create a new minimum standard of living for every American citizen. By providing every adult citizen with an unconditional monthly income of $1,500, poverty will be eliminated in one move. Such a policy would also allow for the immediate elimination of all current federal and state aid programs. Food stamps, TANF, unemployment, HUD, SSI, and any other program designed to help those in need could be eliminated, simplifying our current inefficient bureaucracies.
