Design, construct and use underground, highly secure, intrusion and blast resistant vaults for nuclear materials, secured by military personnel with appropriate weapons.
In light of what has come under public scrutiny regarding facilities similar to "Y-12" at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where a few elderly Nuns penetrated the perimeter, it becomes clear a more hardened environment that is more resistant to conventional or special munitions is needed. Please direct the Secretary of Energy to immediately design, construct and use hardened, underground vaults for such storage, and provide these facilities with reliable security and defense provided by sworn, trained and suitably equipped military personnel.
