Establish US and State Elections Days as National Holidays

Created by D.G. on June 03, 2014

Too many United States Citizens do not or cannot come out to vote on Election Day. For whatever reason, the US ranks 120 among 169 countries making voter turnout statistics available to the public. Only 60% of eligible voters participated in our 2012 elections.

This petition is presented on behalf of the non-partisan Facebook Community "Make Voting Day A National Holiday". Our purpose is to have a bill introduced in the House and Senate of the United States to make Election Days Federal legal public holidays.

Voting is our precious right and a duty. The United States should do everything possible to encourage all citizens to get out to vote in all elections. Making Election Days legal holidays would make it easier for anyone who wants to participate to get out to cast their votes.
