There needs to be a U.S. national recurring holiday in remembrance of Native American Code Talkers.
Native American Code Talkers have served an integral part in defending our Nation, starting with Cherokee and Choctaw Tribal nations' involvement in World War I, and the contributions of the Navajo, Lakota, and Comanche (among others) in World War II. Use of indigenous languages changed the course of these global conflicts, saving millions of lives worldwide. Yet, Code Talkers did not receive any recognition until declassification in 1968 and still lack proper acknowledgement to this day.
American Indians constitute the highest per-capita ethnic group to serve in the Armed Forces, a tradition that stems from the Code Talkers' legacy. Help us honor them and our Veterans with this Day.
