One of the problems with the current use of the US military around the world is that we citizens have been kept from the consequences. We run up deficits, and expect all other efforts domestically to wither and die. We need to proactively pay for these conflicts now to avoid the burden of debt.
The best method of doing this is to clearly, up front, pay for this with a supplemental tax for these efforts. We should not be allowed to believe as Americans that these forays are within our budget, they are extraordinary events that should be justified by extra contributions.
