Establish The Weather Channel as an emergency facility required for all cable and satellite systems free to subscribers.

“The Weather Channel” provides excellent and easy to understand weather-related reporting and it should be provided FREE to all subscribers by every satellite and cable system. The current dispute between “The Weather Channel” and DirecTV is causing serious ramifications. An example was the small amount of snow that crippled Atlanta because the Channel was not available to the majority of the area’s citizens, those receiving DirecTV. “The Weather Channel” should be considered a pseudo part of Homeland Security as it provides necessary information to people throughout the USA.
