Establish a week of national recognition for volunteer grid computing projects and participants.

Created by J.H. on January 14, 2013

A week of national recognition of those who administrate and participate in volunteer grid computing projects would call awareness to a form of volunteerism which has the potential to assist in solving some of our most pressing problems and further the cause of scientific discovery on both a national and international scale.

Volunteer grid computing allows anyone with a computer and access to the internet to volunteer valuable processing power to scientific projects which would otherwise lack the computing resources necessary. Among these projects are those seeking important answers to questions in the fields of climate change, chemistry, astrophysics, molecular biology, materials science, mathematics, physics and design of new medicines. It is an example of volunteerism at its finest.
