Evaluate and expedite the handling and enactment of H.R.2966 and S.1176, amendments to the Horse Protection Act of 1970

To amend the Horse Protection Act (HPA) to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes.
A bill proposed by Mr. Burton of Indiana and Ms. Landrieu and on behalf of 71 Senators and Congress men and women, needs to have the attention that it deserves, in order to expedite the passage and presidential approval of said bills.
We believe that the original intent of the HPA needs clarification, as it is proposed in these bills, in order to continue the ban of the slaughter, or the transport, of Horses for human consumption and for other purposes.
We need to ensure that horses remain protected, and ensure exported horses are safeguarded.
