Evaluate the state of our mental healthcare and address the deeper meaning behind mass shootings beyond firearm control.

Created by C.B. on December 16, 2012

With the recent mass shooting in Connecticut, the country is in mourning. Many of our citizens view the presence of automatic weapons as the root of shootings.

But what about the man behind the gun? With this murderer's suicide, it is obvious he was mentally deprived, and, upon reflection, our mental healthcare system is not where it could be. We have many people with disorders such as schizophrenia roaming the streets unaided, either because they're either under the delusion they don't need help, or for financial reasons.

At its current state, our mental healthcare system gives in to their delusion and is unobtainable for those financially deprived. We need to stop 'jumping the gun' for gun control, and look at the real root of these tragedies, the mental state of this country.
