The Rio Grande Valley continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the conservative policies of the State of Texas. For years, citizens of the Rio Grande Valley have had their voices diluted in national elections and, therefore, diluted in national affairs. For years, citizens of the Rio Grande Valley have had to settle for low-waged employment and low high-waged opportunities. For years, citizens of the Rio Grande Valley have been given an education that does not fully prepare them for a prosperous future.
Texas is a great state and this petition is not an attack on the soil we live in. But Texas secession will have an even more negative affect on the Rio Grande Valley.
If Texas secedes like it has done before, the Rio Grande Valley will secede like it has done before.
