This is taken directly from the Constitution of the Confederate States of America: "Every law, or resolution having the force of law, shall relate to but one subject, and that shall be expressed in the title." Slavery and states rights notwithstanding, this one clause in its Constitution limits all legislation to be on a single subject. Over the past several years we have had legislation pass through Congress where riders and other unrelated items have been attached either as an effort to force a veto or to provide pork barrel spending. By enacting this clause found in the Confederate Constitution we can force Congress to keep all legislation on a single topic.
