We the people ask the federal government to Take or explain a position on an issue or policy:

Every state should require all students to stay in high school until they graduate or turn 18

Created by S.P. on November 08, 2016

President Obama said in his 2012 state of the union speech that, “We also know that when students don’t walk away from their education, more of them walk the stage to get their diploma. When students are not allowed to drop out, they do better.” A student that is not viewed as an adult by our government should not be allowed to drop out of school. Based on March 2014 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, high school dropouts are nearly three time more likely to be unemployed than college graduates. Furthermore, a study out of northeaster University found that high school dropouts cost taxpayers $292,000 over the course of their lives. High school drop outs are also more prone to crime, drugs, alcohol, and poverty. Please support my petition and lets begin to change this.
