Ex felons should have right to vote

I feel that once a convicted felon completes sentence or supervision, that person should automatically be able to have voting rights restored in every state. No matter the crime, except voting crimes. Once we get a job, we automatically have to pay taxes. If I can't vote I should have the option of paying taxes then. It's unfair, cruel and unusual punishment. Also it's like getting handed an extra punishment. I've paid my debt to society. So I should be able to be part of the society I live in. Am I not an American because I made mistakes in life. I just want to be a productive citizen again fully
