Examine the role of physical education in public schools in developing mentally healthy children and young adults.

Created by I.L. on January 05, 2013

While the Presidential Fitness Exam is a good start in identifying the physical fitness of our youth, there is room for improvement.

All children and young adults in public schools should be examined for mental fitness during their annual exams. Proof of mental fitness should be provided each year to schools.

Children or young adults who do not pass the mental fitness exam should then be evaluated for adequate physical fitness. Those who do not prefer group sports should be provided an opportunity to explore activities that are not team-oriented, such as running. Video games should be severely limited during this process.

Physical fitness should be encouraged over violent video gaming.
